Cyber Threats – Fact or Fiction
Presented by Dennis Ast, CPCU, CCIC, Senior Account Executive, OneGroup
Thursday, May 9, 2019
3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
CNY Biotech Accelerator, 841 E. Fayette St., Syracuse, NY*
In this presentation, the speaker will review statistics and discuss how cyber events are on the rise with a focus on small and medium size businesses. In some respects, cyber attacks are becoming a cottage industry in which criminal rings are hiring hackers to get into company’s data, steal their intellectual property or drop malware & ransomware. Attacks are becoming more sophisticated and if companies don’t practice basic cyber hygiene it’s not a matter of if they are going to face a cyber-event, but when.
Dennis Ast has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and risk management industry and is an expert in cyber insurance. Dennis is a Senior Account Executive at OneGroup and graduated from the State University College at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He obtained his Certified Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Designation and earned his Master’s Degree from Boston University in Insurance Management. Dennis earned his Property and Casualty license in nearly half of the states in the country, and completed Chubb and Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy’s Cyber COPE Insurance CertificationSM for his CCIC designation.
