MedTech is New York’s trade association for the bio/med industry.  We are an innovative coalition of pharmaceutical, medical technology, and life sciences companies, research and academic institutions, suppliers, and service providers.  We connect our member companies, entrepreneurs and academics to grow the region’s life sciences economy. Since our founding in 2004, we have boosted the success of our members through collaboration, education, and advocacy.  We have a vision of New York as a nationally recognized bio/med hub where companies and professionals seek to do business.  We pursue that vision through our mission to develop the relationships, tools, and programs that enable our members to bring tomorrow’s medical solutions to the healthcare marketplace.

We believe the best way to grow the bio/med economy is through collaboration.  Consequently, we take a different approach than other trade associations.

  • Our members come from all aspects of the bio/med economy, not simply a single industry segment.
  • We bring together industry with the state’s leading academic institutions to form one organization with a united purpose.

Speaker:  Winthrop "Win" Thurlow is the Executive Director of MedTech, a non-profit trade association representing New York’s bioscience and medical technology industry. He joined MedTech in July 2017.

For nearly 30 years, Thurlow has been engaged as a leader and consultant in the private and public sectors.  He is a former New York Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge and has worked as a lawyer in private practice and as a prosecutor, a regulator and an administrator, including serving as Counsel and Vice President for University Compliance and Ethics at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York where he oversaw institutional compliance, scientific and research misconduct, commercialization and technology transfer.  Thurlow has served in leadership roles at various not-for-profit agencies and is a frequent lecturer on organizational ethics, internal controls and enterprise risk management. He is also an adjunct professor in Syracuse University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.  Thurlow holds a bachelor’s degree from Union College and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
