Heather Hage, president and CEO of the Griffiss Institute in Rome, leads a complex, tech-savvy organization to help develop technologies for the Department of Defense, adapt new technologies to commercial applications, and to keep the former Griffiss Air Force Base as a center for high-tech research.
Each summer, the Institute’s employment swells as college professors and interns arrive in Rome to do research in fields like physics, computer science, math, and related specialties. They get a chance to work with the 1,200 employees at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, often referred to as Rome Labs.
