Onondaga County Sets up Community COVID Testing Site
SYRACUSE, NY October 15, 2021-Onondaga County has partnered with Syracuse-based Quadrant Biosciences to open a COVID testing site for symptomatic members of the community. The new site, located at 800 W Genesee St. in Syracuse is open to the public to help address the growing demand for additional COVID testing sites in the county.
Adults or children experiencing mild to moderate symptoms are encouraged to schedule an appointment. Anyone experiencing active COVID symptoms is strongly encouraged to consult their healthcare provider to determine if testing is appropriate or if they need to seek further examination.
“We are happy to partner with Onondaga County to support access to COVID testing as we recognize there is an unmet need in the community,” said Rita Romano, President of Quadrant Laboratories, the laboratory division of Quadrant Biosciences. “We live here, and work here, so we understand the pressure our hospitals and doctor’s offices are facing right now. By opening this symptomatic testing location and providing access to COVID testing, we’re hoping to alleviate the pressure these institutions are feeling and allow them to get back to routine visits with their patients.”
Appointments will be available weekdays, from 9:00am to 12:00 pm and can be scheduled through the county’s website. Testing will be done using the Clarifi COVID-19 Saliva Test; those using the Genesee Street testing site will have to create an account at app.clarifi-covid-19.com to access their results. Results will be available within 24-48 hours of testing.
“Providing as many options as possible for members of our community to be tested for COVID-19 continues to be a top priority,” said Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon. “Not only does it help us box-in the virus and limit spread, but also alleviate the growing pressure on our urgent care centers. Thank you very much to Quadrant Laboratories for their partnership in these efforts.”
Testing is free to community members through Federal Funds allocated to Onondaga County for COVID testing.
